Fidelity to the Word
Our Lord and His Holy Apostles at the Last Supper

A blog dedicated to Christ Jesus our Lord and His True Presence in the Holy Mystery of the Eucharist

The Lord Jesus, the same night in which He was betrayed, took bread, and giving thanks, broke, and said: Take ye and eat, this is My Body which shall be delivered for you; this do for the commemoration of Me. In like manner also the chalice.

Indifference to Life

I turned the tv on for a few minutes earlier this hour. EWTN was covering the annual March for Life. I wondered how other networks were covering the event: Headline News, Fox News, and a couple other channels showed great interest in the unusual amount of rain two states out west are getting, but not so much in the hundreds of thousands of innocents slaughtered every year in the United States.

I ended up watching CNN. Nothing about the march, but they did have a report from Haiti. One of their camera crews heard gun shots and rushed over to find that police had shot two suspected looters. Suspected, apparently, because each was carrying a pail of rice. Locals in the area denied there was any looting. The policemen's supervisor arrived and sorrowfully said the two should not have been shot in any country, even if they had stolen rice. He said he had called an ambulance for the more seriously injured of the two. They waited; after two hours, no ambulance had arrived and the man had bled to death. In the meantime, the camera crew shot more pictures, none of which showed the police, or the reporters, or the bystanders showing any interest in attempting to tend the man's wounds themselves, or comfort him in any way. Detestable indifference! Clumsy and inexperienced help would have been better than no help at all! A man died right in front of them and they did nothing!

Holy Innocents

"A voice in Rama was heard, lamentation and great mourning: Rachel bewailing her children, and would not be comforted, because they are not."
- Matthew 2:18

Alas for our nation and our world, that greater lamentation is not heard in this time when the mass murder of innocents has again become public policy. God bless and strengthen those who year in and year out attempt to awaken numbed consciences to the horror that is abortion.

Saint Joseph, guardian of the holy family, pray for them.
Saint Maximilian Kolbe, in a death camp killed but not defeated, pray for them.
Blessed Margaret of Castello, in weakness perfected, pray for them.
Blessed Teresa of Calcutta, comforter of the abandoned, pray for them.
Saint Gianna Beretta Molla, exemplar of maternal love, pray for them.
Saint Gerard Majella, protector of expectant mothers, pray for them.
Saint John the Baptist, herald of our Lord, pray for them.
Holy mother of God, Mary most blessed and pure, pray for them.

Life Checks

I use personal checks with a pro-life message. Recently, however, I learned that the company that sells these checks provides financial support to organizations promoting abortion and other evils. That company, the Custom Direct Income Fund, owns all of the following:

LifeChecks,
The Check Gallery,
Image checks,
Artistic checks,
Message checks,
Styles,
Identity Checks,
Classic Checks,
Unique Products,
4checks.com
Check Crafters (prints business checks)
All of the above companies, even if they sell products with a good message, provide funding for the culture of death and should be avoided.

A good pro-life alternative for personal checks is Promise Checks (promisechecks.com). Are you inadvertently doing harm with the products you purchase?

Is Archbishop Wuerl doing his job?

HLI Leader Says: "I don't believe Archbishop Wuerl is doing his job"

Washington Archbishop Wuerl Won't Discipline or Deny Communion to Pro-Abortion Speaker Pelosi

Openly pro-abortion senator receiving Holy Communion from Apostolic Nuncio Archbishop SambiBy John-Henry Westen

WASHINGTON, DC, January 16, 2007 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Perhaps it was a bad omen when at the installation Mass for the new Archbishop of Washington Donald Wuerl last June, pro-abortion Democratic Senator John Kerry was given Holy Communion and caught on camera in the act. During the entrance procession, Archbishop Wuerl shook hands with Kerry and Senator Ted Kennedy (see coverage).

Now, Archbishop Wuerl, who replaced Cardinal Theodore McCarrick, has said publicly that he would not discipline or direct priests to deny communion to pro-abortion Catholic politician Nancy Pelosi who was just made speaker of the House of Representatives. [rest of article here]

~~~
Is it too much to expect our bishops to oppose the slaughter of innocents and support the worthy reception of Holy Communion?
I just read this story from three months ago, when the Democrats took control of the United States Congress. I wish I could hope that Abp Wuerl had repented by now of his sin of permitting and even supporting such scandalous, sacrilegious communions.
Human-hide wallets and canibalized embryos
Was it a good idea for Nazis to try to make wallets and lamp shades out of the skin of killed prisoners? Ok, so killing people because of their ethnic background is against some people's ideas of traditional morality, but if they are going to die anyway, why should the bodies go to waste?
How about concentration-camp slavery? Sure, slavery is against some people's personal moral values, but if the prisoners are going to die anyway, why shouldn't society benefit by working them to death? At least some good would come out of a bad situation that way.
(Sorry, but these gruesome analogies do have a purpose).
Octave of Prayer for Christian Unity [Day 5]
On the fifth day of the octave of prayer for Christian unity, we pray for unity in our own country, where our actions have the most direct effect to promote good or evil. [What is God calling you to do?]
In the United States, today is also a day of penance in reparation for the judicial decision 43 years ago today that stripped the unborn of the legal protections they once had, and for the nearly unspeakable crime of tens of millions of lives snuffed out as a result of that decision.
May all Christians (and all people of good will) unite to protect innocent and helpless unborn babies.
Lord, please soften the hardened hearts of those that would kill, and let them find hope and repentance and peace in You, Who are all-good, all-loving, all-just, and all-merciful. We ask this in the Holy Name of Jesus, Your Son, Who lives and reigns with You in the unity of the Holy Spirit, One God, always and forever. Amen.
ANTIPHON: That they all may be one, as Thou, Father, in me and I in Thee; that they also may be one in Us; that the world may believe that Thou hast sent me.
V. I say unto thee, thou art Peter;
R. And upon this rock I will build my Church.
That the Christians in our country may be one, in union with the Chair of Saint Peter.
Let us pray. Blessed Lord Jesus Christ, who saidst unto Thine apostles, "Peace I leave with you, My peace I give unto you;" regard not our sins, but the faith of Thy Church, and grant unto her that peace and unity which is according to Thy will, Who livest and reignest with the Father and the Holy Ghost, one God, now and ever.
O gracious Father, we humbly beseech thee for Thy holy Catholic Church; that Thou wouldst be pleased to fill it with all truth, in all peace. Where it is corrupt, purify it; where it it in error, direct it; where in anything it is amiss, reform it. Where it is right, establish it; where it is in want, provide for it; where it is divided, reunite it; for the sake of Him who died and rose again, and ever liveth to make intercession for us, Jesus Christ, Thy Son, our Lord.
O God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, our only Saviour, The Prince of Peace; Give us grace seriously to lay to heart the great dangers we are in by our unhappy divisions. Take away all hatred and prejudice, and whatsoever else may hinder us from godly union and concord: that as there is but one Body and one Spirit, and one hope of our calling, one Lord, one Faith, one Baptism, one God and Father of us all, so we may be all of one heart and of one soul, united in one holy bond of truth and peace, of faith and charity, and may with one mind and one mouth glorify Thee; through Jesus Christ our Lord.
