Fidelity to the Word
Our Lord and His Holy Apostles at the Last Supper

A blog dedicated to Christ Jesus our Lord and His True Presence in the Holy Mystery of the Eucharist

The Lord Jesus, the same night in which He was betrayed, took bread, and giving thanks, broke, and said: Take ye and eat, this is My Body which shall be delivered for you; this do for the commemoration of Me. In like manner also the chalice.

Progressives vs Education

Louisiana's education voucher program was ruled unconstitutional yesterday.

Comments on the news:

Ray Cherry: This is BS! If I want my kid to get a good education, my tax dollars should be able to go to the school I send my kid to! Period.

Jim McNary: So if I want to send my kid to the Saul Alinsky Satanist Abortion Academy, you'd be cool with my using your tax dollars to do it?
Good to know, Ray.

Me: Funny how oh-so-open-minded liberals suddenly start warning people people about the supposed dangers of wiccans or satanists raising their children according to their beliefs, whenever the possibility arises of helping children get something other than a values-free education.

You won't see my comment, however; it was deleted twice. There are other comments on the page that could also use a reply, but WWLTV appears determined to keep the conversation one-sided.

(I tried replying again a few days later with "If the price of me raising my kid according to my beliefs is that you get to raise your kid according to your beliefs, so be it" but the news station deleted that one, too).

Offline for Lent

There is so much to read and see on the internet. I find it all endlessly fascinating... enticing... agitating... wearying. If there is such a thing as gluttony of the eyes, I have it. (And what about you, dear reader?  How easy would it be for you to disconnect for a few days?  Have you tried?1)

Recent attempts at moderation have been unsuccessful, so I'm trying stronger measures. I'll be offline until Easter, I hope, except for work and a small amount of personal email.

May God bless and guide you. Pax et bonum.

Called to Freedom

For you were called to freedom, brethren;
only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh,
but through love be servants of one another.
For the whole law is fulfilled in one word,
"You shall love your neighbor as yourself."
But if you bite and devour one another,
take heed that you are not consumed by one another.
But I say, walk by the Spirit,
and do not gratify the desires of the flesh.
For the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit,
and the desires of the Spirit are against the flesh;
for these are opposed to each other,
to prevent you from doing what you would.
But if you are led by the Spirit you are not under the law.
Now the works of the flesh are plain:
fornication, impurity, licentiousness, idolatry, sorcery,
enmity, strife, jealousy, anger, selfishness, dissension, party spirit,
envy, drunkenness, carousing, and the like.
I warn you, as I warned you before,
that those who do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience,
kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control;
against such there is no law.
And those who belong to Christ Jesus
have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.
If we live by the Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit.
Let us have no self-conceit,
no provoking of one another,
no envy of one another.

Galatians 5:13-26

+++

If you totally fulfil the command to love your neighbour, you will feel no bitterness or resentment against him whatever he does. If this is not the case, then the reason why you fight against your brother is clearly because you seek after transitory things and prefer them to the commandment of love.
