A blog dedicated to Christ Jesus our Lord and His True Presence in the Holy Mystery of the Eucharist

The Lord Jesus, the same night in which He was betrayed, took bread, and giving thanks, broke, and said: Take ye and eat, this is My Body which shall be delivered for you; this do for the commemoration of Me. In like manner also the chalice.

New ICEL Translation in South Africa

According to this British pastor, the new Mass translation is now commonly available in South Africa, and is scheduled to be introduced into general usage in that country in December. Some places there have begun to use a recent draft already.

Comments by Fr. Z on bits of the new translation:
the creed
the confiteor
Lord, I am not worthy
2nd Eucharistic prayer
the Roman Canon (aka 1st Eucharistic prayer)

All good news, however one commentator notes that the draft approved by the American bishops has alterations, for example changing “dew” to “the outpouring of your spirit,” so in the United States we may have to settle for a slightly simplified version of the new translation.
